We are launching a new series. Some months we put a special record store in the spotlight, because anyone who truly loves vinyl knows that the shop where you buy is just as important as the record itself. We kick off with an absolute classic: Sounds Delft.

Sounds Delft: a household name in the vinyl world

There are record stores and there are institutions. Sounds Delft clearly belongs in the second category. The shop has been around for more than thirty years and is located on the Brabantse Turfmarkt, right in the historic centre of Delft. A location that suits the store perfectly, because just like the city, Sounds Delft breathes history, character and a deep love of music.

Still, a visit never feels like an anonymous department store. On the contrary, over the years Sounds Delft has remained a personal and welcoming place for everyone who loves records.

The numbers speak for themselves

Anyone who steps inside is immediately overwhelmed, and that is exactly the point. With more than 20,000 different LPs, CDs and cassettes (MC) in stock, Sounds Delft is one of the best stocked music stores for miles around. Can't find something right away? Then the shop simply orders it from a catalogue of more than 1,000,000 different items. As a result, the chance of going home empty handed is practically zero.

That range has only grown in recent years. The renewed interest in vinyl plays a big part, but Sounds Delft also saw a remarkable boost from another direction: K-pop. In the K-pop world, CDs are collectibles more than ever. With booklets, photocards and merchandise, they make the CD attractive again for a whole new generation of music lovers. Sounds Delft cleverly responded to this.

New and secondhand, vinyl and CD

Unlike many other record stores, Sounds Delft does not focus exclusively on vinyl. New LPs form the core, but new CDs are also fully represented. Moreover, secondhand vinyl and CDs complete the range, exactly as you can read in the best places to find secondhand vinyl. That makes the shop accessible to everyone, whether you are a passionate collector or simply looking for a record you used to love playing.
